I have streamed the game myself twice now and not really noticed too many issues, the first time I felt incredibly lost and seemed to be struggling with where to go and what to do. I played it again yesterday/last night and it was quite a different experience … as this time I followed what the game was telling me early on.
The game does struggle with being a little empty and human enemies are dreadful, the vampire enemies are only slightly better because they move quicker but the whole NPC/enemy system needs redone from scratch.. I also would love if the game had a lot less bullets and had me struggling a touch with keeping my guns loaded.
However I was one of those that finished Cyberpunk 2077 on an original Xbox and have finished it twice since on varied hardware, I also spend numerous hours on No Mans Sky from time to time, I actually avoid this game as it leads me into a hole of hours lost, fun.. but its a blackhole of enjoyment and things to do.
I suppose my point is, both these games has a massive amount of hype and fell really, really hard on release, Redfall has nowhere near the issues these games did and the hype was nowhere near the levels of those two - Arkane will be fine, Redfall will be fine … in time
If it acceptable to release a game that isnt quite ready? No, I suspect anyone that play tested the game would have known it is not ready.. oddly the game lacks ‘life’ of all things. If you paid full price for this game, then yeah you have a reason to complain, the game is $70 .. still seems wrong. However if like most you got the game on Gamepass, do not stress, it will be fine the game will come around and for the money you pay for gamepass, it’s a bargain.
Escapist Magazine wroteXbox head Phil Spencer has commented on the lackluster reception to Redfall, calling its launch “disappointing” as Xbox and Arkane Austin begin their post-launch support plans. Spencer addressed fan concerns with honest explanations during a recent interview with Kinda Funny, where he was asked to give his thoughts on what went wrong.
“There’s nothing that’s more difficult to me than disappointing the Xbox community,” Spencer said. “I’ve been a part of it for a long time. I obviously work on Xbox, head of the business, have a lot of friends, get a lot of feedback, and to watch the community lose confidence, be disappointed… I’m disappointed. I’m upset with myself.
