Konami have sent the gaming world into a bit of a buzz with what seems to be confirmation of a return for one of it’s most loved IP’s Silent Hill.
Silent Hill much like resident evil was a prominent game in the horror space and even, again like Resident Evil, expanded beyond gaming with a not so bad but not the best movie
Eventually much like an array of games from that era, the property was burned out and exhausted to the point of being a shadow of itself and then it went dormant for a long time, a very long time - with the release of the Resident Evil remakes it was quickly assumed that Silent Hill remakes would follow but .. nothing, then we had the impressive game demo from Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro and appeared to be staring Norman Reedus however despite PT being downloaded a ton of times and seemingly well received the game in development Silent Hills was cancelled 3 years into it’s development process and this had some fairly big ramifications for gaming but more so for Kojima and Konami explicitly with his confirmation that he and his senior staff would be Konami
of course since then Kojima has gone on with Del Toro and Reedus to make Death stranding and is currently working on a title for Microsoft…so .. worked out for moi
The announcement was retweeted by Masahiro Ito, who has worked on numerous entries in the Silent Hill series as a monster designer and art director.
So, what do we expect? Well, the past few years have seen various whispers of Silent Hill projects in development - though nothing more concrete than last month’s recent appearance of something called “Silent Hill: The Short Message” popping up on the Korean video games rating board.
