Get ready for the new year with your possibly new Xbox that Santa brought you and grab some epic free games from games with gold! Ok so yeah we do hope Santa brought you a new console of your choice and its as epic as you hoped but these games oh boy
Not bad games at all, it's rare a game should be tarnished with the "this game sucks" tag but games with gold as a service you really should not expect much anymore because while the games are not bad - they are not going to buzz many with any level of excitement
but lets take a look at what we get this month!
- NeuroVoider Available January 1 to 31
- Aground Available January 16 to February 15
- Radiant Silvergun Available January 1 to 15
- Space Invaders Infinity Gene Available January 16 to 31
I've opted not to include ERP as I don't often feel the price of older games can be converted to value for example I got Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for $7 an absolute steal for what is an excellent game... so price does not quantify to awesomeness.
NeuroVoider
I had honestly not heard of the game prior to seeing it in GwG and having done a little poke around and look into the game it does look like it could be a ton of fun, it's been released on near every gaming platform and has some great reviews on Steam, I suspect a lot of console owners look for wow graphics in everything but a game is more than it's visuals and this one looks like it could be a ton of fun without
I think I'll probably give this one a few hours, although RPGs always tend to struggle to keep my attention but hopefully the whole shooting things will appeal to my lizard brain.
Aground
Aground has excellent scores on not only steam but on basically any site that measures metrics for games, it is pixel based and does include mining and crafting but looks and appears to play virtually nothing like Minecraft ... how often have you seen someone ride a dragon, bust out a shotgun to kill some weird glob monster?
I do put far too many hours into Minecraft but this one could be a lot of fun - it's hoarder friendly according to a lot of reviews so right up my avenue!
Radiant Silvergun
Radiant Silvergun has a bit of gaming history as it was initially an arcade game (remember arcades?) and then later a game put on the Sega Saturn (had one of those for 5 minutes). The game itself is a top down shooter bullet everywhere kind go game and great when you just want to get test your reflexes a little.

The game has been well reviewed in most it's incarnations and I personally will probably fire it up from time to time, these games are not really in my usual play list but I do fire up Galaga Wars+ on my Phone/Tablet frequently.
Space Invaders Infinity Gene
This is probably the game I'm personally least interested in but the game has reviewed or was reviewed well on it's IOS version as well as the Xbox version and does somewhat change up what was the classic space invaders but its not really singing to me personally couldn't tell you why, I had the same aversion to Tetris Infinity or whatever the latest one was .. looked great, fantastic soundtrack but I could not connect with it at all.

I did look over the E3 video comments and people did seem excited to play it and some of the more modern comments also expressed how fun the game was so if you're a fan of shooters or classic space invaders this modern twist could be fore you .
Worth it?
So having heard of very few of these games prior to seeing the release video (below) and seeing them in the release video I went with my usual reaction of I'll claims them and maybe on a rainy day give them a play but probably not that interested but taking a moment to look into the games I think I will probably give them all an install and at least an hour or more each to see how I go with them
Aground is probably the one I'll invest the most time in, but if i remember I'll come back at the end of the month (or when I have played the games) and let you know if I got anything out of them
