If the quote is word for word, I honestly did not check but if its not please feel free to correct me with exactly what was said but .. if its correct then yeah “some girl he cannot remember” then suddenly remembers her name and has the brains to refer to her as some Japanese girl"
I’m not suggesting he is sexist or discriminating just to be clear, I think his brain has got to the point where he thinks he was great back In the day and his greatness is on-going…
He was fine back in the day, over as fuck with some fans - but he will be remembered by recent fans for the guy that nearly knocked himself out head butting a door and came to the ring with a hole in his head before putting on a meh match, the guy that knocked himself out against taker in a fairly woeful match…
Fans can choose to remember the awesome athlete he was prior to leaving WWE or the shell of what used to be that returned to WWE and struggled in many aspects. Asuka has won, much like Goldberg titles everywhere she went, has never put a foot wrong (so far as we know) behind the scenes, helped carry WWE during the dark days of covid and put on some stellar matches
is he really that upset that his record of pretend victories is broken? seems like it - Asuka is great and does not deserve to be referenced as ‘some Japanese girl’
So far as the spear goes, sure he probably put the move on the map and yes a lot of people use it but once upon a time nobody did super kicks and if they did, that was it, lights out… the DDT was once a finisher, now its just another move - time change, moves get used… if anything perhaps appreciate that the move you helped push is now used by a ton of talent (and it was never his finisher either if I recall, so unlike the super kick which has been degraded from finisher to simple offensive move it was always a lead into the finisher…)
I don’t get how some of the boys from yesteryear are suck dicks about records that do not for the most part matter and its not like Asuka went to the main roster and become some nobody after beating his streak… she went on to co-main event mania! (in his first losing effort)
Wrestlezone wrote“A girl beat my undefeated streak,” Goldberg said. “I can’t even remember. Asuka is her name, and she is some Japanese girl. They touted her as being the one to have the longest winning streak, and it just so happened that it culminated when I got there. And then it just so happened that every single wrestler uses the spear in their moves, right? Pretty ironic that that happened when I got there, right? That’s how they do it.”
