Phil Spencer has tweeted out confirmation that Xbox/Microsoft have committed to a 10 year deal with Nintendo and Steam to put Call of Duty on both platforms.. again for the next 10 years, Sony as of yet has not confirmed any form of deal and apparently are still sulking that the deal is being pushed through.
Concerned gamers have of course stressed how a 10 year deal isn’t forever and that buying up IPs in consolidation moves generally never ends well and cannot agree more but at the same time, if you’re not a regular year-in, year-out call of duty player.. when was the last time it appealed to you ?
Myself, World at War was great, Modern Warfare 1, 2 and Black Ops I want to say 2 and 3 were about the last ones of interest - so the game could do with some new input.. but Activision Blizzard is (you’d hope) much more than just the COD company.. lets hope the other IPs get equal interest.
Brad Smith (Vice Chair & President of Microsoft (according to twitter bio)) has put a little salt into his tweet confirming the deals suggesting that Microsoft is fully open to doing the same with Sony, but Sony sit down and do the talkie talkie bit of deals - either way, it’ll likely happen with or without Sonys input (releasing on PlayStation is the bit that will happen)
I understand the concerns of gamers, but as a primarily Xbox user - I don’t see how I really lose in this deal, more so when the GamePass floodgates open for Activision Blizzard titles
