I played the hell out of this on my old PC before it died, then shifted to the console version - wasn’t initially a fan of it and I do play it on gamepads - which means I don’t own any of the DLC which I did own on PC.
I have/had been playing the remastered version until I ran into the same issue as I had previously, no DLC means you can only really go so far - I do love this game and I think when City Skylines II comes out I will probably look into whatever version comes with a season pass right out the box … hopefully it won’t cost a zillion and that whatever edition contains that … won’t be some mega expensive collectors edition ..
I am a little surprised that a version 2 is on the way, I guess they hit technical limitations or just wanted to put a new spin on some older mechanics. In terms of what I would like to see in the core game - mods are great but when achievement hunting I play vanilla so .. core game:
better traffic management, I want the ability to control traffic lanes, when they can lane change, which lanes are straight on and which are for turning, traffic lights on my own custom cycles and just a ton of traffic improvements.
Even more environmental stuff (green city) in the base game, in the base game (no DLC) you cannot have a complete clean water output - this can be done with mods/DLC but in the base game, does not exist, similar story with trash, you can hugely reduce trash but not process it without some negative pollution effect.
Create zones with a square… I use the blob thing but when I’m trying to be uber precise.. I tend to follow the roads but even then its a lot like trying to draw a small thin line with a pain roller
Better zones, the commercial one explicitly is always a pain to figure out, they sell Goods, they create noise but once you dive into the leisure / tourism element of things.. my brain gives up.
Natural Disasters in the base game (I intend to buy a season pass but..) I think this is an irritating option as the base game offers two options on new map, new game or new scenario and if you do not have the DLC - the scenarios cannot be played … and a ton of achievements are locked behind that DLC… I have out loud debated several times about buying the season pass 1, 2 and all the bits in the middle to “complete the game” but it’s a $135 purchase… which I know I would play the crap out of .. but now I will likely not bother and await SCII
probably missing a lot on my list, but I do enjoy the casual nature this game offers
